Where Sahabat came from
Sahabat was founded in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of people who had spent years working in and alongside Malaysian small businesses. What they kept noticing was a gap — not in the market for high-powered strategy consultants, but in the availability of straightforward, affordable, human support for the owner who runs a shop in Chow Kit, a café in Bangsar, a small contractor firm, or a growing family trade.
The name means "friend" in Malay. That's deliberate. We wanted to build something that felt less like hiring an outside firm and more like having a knowledgeable friend who happens to understand business, finance, operations, and people — someone you can be honest with, who will be honest back.
Since opening our doors in Jalan Pudu, we've worked with owners across retail, food service, professional services, and trades. Each engagement is different, but the approach stays the same: we listen carefully, think clearly, and offer practical help that you can actually use.

Razif has spent fifteen years working with small businesses across Klang Valley. He founded Sahabat after recognising how many owners simply needed someone they could trust to talk things through honestly.
Nor Hafizah Yusof
Business Advisor
Hafizah brings a background in finance and operations, with a particular focus on helping owners understand their numbers clearly. She believes good decisions start with understanding what the figures are actually saying.

Running a small business in Malaysia involves navigating a particular set of pressures: managing cash flow in a market where payment terms can stretch; dealing with staff turnover and the costs that come with it; making decisions about growth without the data or advisors that larger companies take for granted.
Sahabat works with owners across Kuala Lumpur and the wider Klang Valley on exactly these kinds of challenges. We are not a large firm with a long bench of junior staff. We are a small practice where experienced consultants work directly with clients — and where the person you speak to in the first conversation is the person who does your engagement.
Our consultants have background across retail operations, food and beverage, professional services, and small-scale manufacturing. We understand SSM registration requirements, the realities of EPF and SOCSO obligations, and the practical challenges of managing a small team under Malaysian employment law.
Business consulting at the small business level is different from corporate advisory work. The questions are more immediate: Can I afford to hire a second staff member? Should I open a second location or consolidate what I have? My supplier is pushing for longer credit terms — is that a problem?
These are the conversations we have, and we approach them with both practical experience and genuine care for the person asking. We don't pretend every answer is simple, but we do believe that a clear, honest discussion usually points to a better path forward.
